- Bread was made locally from wheat and oats. The people of this district do not remember querns and grindstones being in use. There is a quern in Cloonanure in front of Mr. Patrick Murray's house. It is circular in shape, hollow at one side and bulged at the other. There is a hole in the middle of it.
The various kinds of bread that were used are, potatoe bread, oaten meal bread, whole meal bread, flour bread and "boxty".
