   The folling story was told to me over 40 years ago, by an old man who was then close on 80 years of age and as some of the family are still living I will refrain from giving names. In a lonely Kerry glen, not three miles from this place dwelt Dennis M-. This family were three sons and a daughter. His second son, Edward, was a strong hardy young fellow and was foremost in all the games in the parish. Hurling was the principal game at that time, and stories are still told of the great hurling matches that took place in them times. One Saturday night the young men of the neighbouring houses, or as we may say, his fellow players on the hurling field, performed the arduous undertaking of making a sliotar, or hurling ball. Having completed it to their satisfaction they said they might as well have half an hours play, to see how it would work. It was rather late when they had finished,but the night was as bright as day with a harvest moon shining in
