  1. The Book of Lecan.
    In the Castle of Lecan lived a family called McFerbis.
    One of these wrote the famous book of Lecan in the year 1416 and is preserved in the library of Royal Irish Academy.
    Donald Mc Ferbis last of the line was stabbed in 1670. He wrote books of History, Law, etc.
    One of the Mac Ferbus' is buried in the old abbey at Kilglass.
    All that is to be seen of Lecan Castle is a small piece of wall in Carrowhubbock Nth. There is also a flat stone in the "Castle" field which is called Mc Ferbis' desk.
    Scurmore was formerly an Augustinian convent.
