   In Glendashlion to the of Ballyheigue is a well - known as St. Dathlion's Well, where people have ever been in the habit of paying rounds, especially for eye ailments.
   The following incident occurred in connection with this well, and was told to me by my paternal grandmother who died in the year 1917, aged 89 years. She was a teacher in this school and retired fifty years ago. Her family lived in Ballyheigue parish and she had a brother Thomas Barrett suffering from sore eyes. One night their mother heard a knock at the window and the voice called out, "Jude, take the child to Glendathlion's well and pay rounds for him, and the eyes will get better". The mother asked how she would make the rounds. The answer was, "There will be a person there to show you what to do". Next day the mother took her son to the well, and a man dressed in knee breeches appeared and showed the mother how to pay the rounds. He took a stone from the mouth of the well and rubbed the under side of it to the
