- There are many signs by which the weather can be judged. When there is dust on the roads there is going to be rain. When birds fly high it is going to be good weather.
When smoke goes up straight this is a sign of good weather.
When smoke comes down the chimney again that is a sign of frost, when the curlew is coming inland with a double cry it is a sign of rain. When the sea-gull is coming inland it is a sign of bad weather.
When the cat sits with its back to the fire it is a sign of bad weather. When frogs come into a house it is the sign of bad weather.
When the moon has a ring around it, it is a sign of bad weather.- Bailitheoir
