  2. To night 22nd of November commemorates the anniversary of the death by British Crown Forces of Eddie Carmody. In his earlier life he lived with his parents in Sallowglen. His father was a very big farmer.
Eddie joined the Republican Army, and on November 22nd 1920 he was shot. On the night he was shot, his comrades were card-playing in a friendly house in the village; they were surprised by the Black-and-Tans and after a fierce struggle managed to escape.
The Tans were going up the road and Eddie was inside the fence. He thought they were his comrades - because they were going to ambush a party of Tans. He stepped out on the road
