  1. My townland is Bromore in the parish of Ballybunion and in barony of Irraghti Connor. Bromore means the big height, some of the local people say it means the big flag, because in olden times the people used to wash their clothes on a flag on the bank of a stream. In a few fields there are great heights, one of them which is called Bidd O'Hara's Height, because in olden days a family of the O'Hara's lived there. A field named Páirc na nDuine, is so called because it is said the fairies used to dwell there. There are old bushes in Pierce's land under which the Leprechauns are said to have worked.
