  1. (continued from previous page)
    (V)
    Your mother dear, God rest her soul, fell on the snowy ground
    Assisted in her anguish there by all the neighbours round;
    She raised her eyes to Heaven above, she prayed to God unseen,
    She then fell back and passed away, far far from Skibereen

    (VI)
    Then you were only two years old, and feeble was your frame
    I would not leave you with your friends, you bore your father's name
    I wrapped you in my "Cota Mór" and at dead of night unseen (?)
    I heaved a sigh and said good-bye to dear old Skibereen.

    (VII)
    Oh father dear, you soon shall hear, when for vengeance we shall call,
    When Irishmen through hill and glen shall rally one and all
    I'll be the (?) man then in the van, beneath the flag of green,
    And loud and high we'll raise the cry "Revenge to Skibereen."
