  1. The following are local customs as regards feasts of the year. On St Patrick's day people wear Shamrocks, and there are amusements, such as football matches and concerts every place.
    Shrove comes between Xmas and Easter. This is a popular time for marrying. On Shrove Tuesday people make a feast on pan-cakes. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting. On holy Thursday there are ceremonies in all catholic churches.
