   Cows used to be bled before going to the mountain to prevent “black leg”, the blood was collected in pizin and was beaten up. It was then boiled and thickened with oatenmeal. The blood of geese was also used in this way.

   Eggs used not to be sold. Kitty O’ Hea was first to collect eggs. She used to go round the district carrying a creal on her back. Her son, Johnnie, was a lazy good-for-nothing fellow. He used to lie “triazini” together across the path. Kitty would trip over these, the creal fell and the eggs were broken. Johnny then had a feast on the broken eggs. Bog-bain was a tea made from roots.

   The above sections marked “18” “25” “33” were obtained from the late Mr. R. Sibbery. The Falls, Glencar, Sligo, who spent much of his time in this locality. He died two years ago at the age of 98.
