- A strong man.About a hundred years ago there lived in Ardranny a man named Dan Dolan. His nephew lives there are the present time. He was a man of five feet four inches and was noted for his great strength. He carried forty stone of oats in a bag on his back up twelve stone steps in Hayden's yard in Ballinasloe. He carried the oats from the yard up to a loft which was over the yard.The same man mowed an acre of hay in the day from eight o'clock in the morning til six in the evening.
