- The old houses were made of Dó Buidhe.
Thatched roofs that were on them.
Straw thatch that was used. The old houses had a bed in the kitchen. It was placed in a corner near the fire. It was called a settle bed.
The fire was in the middle of the house with one room each side of it.
The front of the chimney was made of mortar and stones.
Long ago there was no glass for the windows, mats made of straw that were used instead.
The old floors were made of Dó Buidhe.
Half doors are not common now but they were formerly.
Turf and timber were used for the fire.
Rush candles that were used for light.
Candles were not made locally.
