- Hidden Treasure
I live in the townland of Currafarry. It is situated in the parish of Caltra in the east of Galway and about twelve miles from Ballinasloe.
There is a fort in it, and the people say that the fairies live in it. It is not in my father's land, but it is in a neighbour's land which is very convenient to it.
There is a big tree growing on the fort, and it is supposed that there is a pot of gold buried under it. It is worth a million pounds, and therefore, the people are very anxious to get it.
They made many attempts to get it, but they could not go near it, as it is guarded by the fairies. My grand-father was coming home from a wake one night at half-past eleven, and he saw lights in the fort. A neighbour of mine was passing there one night also, and he heard the fairies singing.
