- The famine and fever bad in this district. There were twice as many houses in it then as now. A lot of people died from the hunger and fever. Some potatoes grew but a lot of them failed in the soil. The people that had any toset set [?]
Im some cases the man that had no potatoes went to his neighbor who was picking off the sprout for setting them. He took the sprouts and set them and they grew potatoes for him.
During the famine they grew turnips and they eat the turnips and boiled Indian meal mixed together. The potatoes used to be set the [?] as now except that the ridge was about twice as wide.
The rich people used to buy low-cut of meal and sell it to the poor people for almost nothing(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
