    Another very interesting place within the district is Lambay Island. The Danes first landed on this Island. The ruins of the old Church which they burned can still be seen, and the Castle which they also burned was rebuilt and is now the dwelling place of Lord Revelstoke. Recently some workmen came upon old stone implements buried near the harbour, one of which was a heavy stone hammer and another a stone pick axe which I suppose were relics of the stone age. If research was made on Lambay Island, I am sure that a lot of relics of old Irish civilisation could be found.
    In the ninth century there was a monastery and Castle where the ruins of Baldungan now stand. The ruins consist of a tower, and three walls of an old church. There are fifty two stone steps of spiral staircase leading up to battlements from
