- Wool
There is scarcely a farmer in Urris but has a few sheep. Sheep are profitable because the y can be grazed on the hills for the most part of the year.
In summer they are taken down from the hills and clipped. They are clipped by hand with wool-shears. They are sent back again to the hills. Some of the wool is sold if there is a good price for it. The rest of it is kept at home for use. At first the wool is washed and left out to dry. When it is thoroughly dry it is taken in and 'teased' by hand. This 'teasing' separates the wool. Then it is 'greased' because this makes it fine and slippery. Then it is carded with a pair of carding cards.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
