    The melted fat was poured into the mould and left there for half an hour. At the end of this time the fat had hardened and the candle could be shaken out of the mould.
    This was repeated until a dozen were made. Then they were tied up with a cord to dry for a few days. After that they were ready for use.
    This process started in September to have a store ready for the winter months.
    In our home there is still one of these moulds. It is made of metal - cylindrical in shape; it is 10 and three quarter inches long and has a diameter at the wider end of quarter of an inch.
