    Were shops common long ago.
    In olden times shops were not so common as they are now. When the people went to mass on Sunday they usually bought what ever goods they needed in the shop nearest the chapel. The people buy sugar, flour and meal.
    Was money always given.
    Sometimes butter and eggs were given instead of money.
    "Tick" means getting the articles and paying for them some other time
    Where markets were held
    In large towns they have a place to hold the markets. This place is called the market square
    In small towns the hold the markets along the street.
    Names of coins
    The people call a shilling a bob a sixpence a tanner, a penny a wing, threepence a kid's eye, twopence a deuce a halfpenny a make, fourpence a double deuce.
