  1. In olden days the people hadn't any nice food like what we have now-a-days.
    They had nothing but oat= nread and porridge and butter-milk.
    They took only three meals a day; breakfast, dinner and supper.
    They always got up about six o'clock and worked until breakfast time; then they came in and took their breakfast and this consisted of porridge and buttermilk.
    Their dinner consisted of salt beef because they always cured their own meat.
    The loaf was only bought on odd occasions such as at a party
    When the farmer was in the bog "poundies" was the principal food
    They had another dish called "rantin tíre" and this is how it was made.
    The oat meal was pounded through the potatoes and this was a very important dish.
