- Long ago the people used to make oatmeal farles and wheaten meal farles. They used to grind the meal between two stone querns. Then they would bake it into farles and put it on a pan they called a griddle and left it on the gríosach to roast. The special bread was made of flour.
When the men would come from Derry with the carts they used to sell the flour in pounds.Then the people would buy a pound for a cake and roast it on a griddle.
