  1. Story

In olden times in this district there was a fairy cow.

In olden times in this district there was a fairy cow. It supplied milk to the whole district and no matter how big the vessel was that the people brought with them the fairy cow filled it. One day an old woman came to the cow for milk. The vessel she had was very dirty and as she went to milk the cow suddenly the cow disappeared and was never seen afterwards.
While she was in this district. The place where she tethered her calf was called Bockinalea the well she drank from was called Tubbernaglus while she fed on Mullinashee.
    Notes
The above two districts Bockinalea and Tubbernaglus are situated in the townland of Cashelard. Bockinalea is a hollow at the end of a glen with a big bank all round it. Hence Bruach na Laogha.
The third named place Mullachnashe-Mullach-na- Sighe the “hill of the Fairies” is situated in the district of Ballyshannon. Tradition holds it that in olden times a high kind of Ireland named Aodh Ruadh was buried under this hill. The people believed that the king still reigned under this hill- hence that it was enchanted and from that the belief that the fairies still [?] reigned there.
