    people with their families went to America. Threre was an old woman living at the cove who used to pick seaweed and bring it to Carrick every week and got a lot of money for it. She also went to America with her family.
    Long there was a mill in Ballyvooney, and an Agustinian Monastery, the ruins of which can still be seen . There was a lime-kiln near the sea where lime was burned for the people of Ballyvooney, but when the burning of lime was stopped the people put a stage near the lime-kiln, where they used enjoy many hours dancing, after this there was a song composed about the dancing on the lime-kiln, by Ned Flynn of Stradbally R.I.P. He was brother of Miss Nora Flynn who is still living in the village.
