- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)iron pots a hundred yards south of Peggy Mahiney's house. It is known as the Furnace. All kinds of pots were made there. Clay pots were made there also. The clay was got over at Michael Brennock's, Doon. No one in this locality has any of the articles that were made in the factory but an old woman in Clonmel has a pot that was made there. We are told that an Earl of Cork built this factory. None of the old people living at the present day have an idea where the iron which made these articles was got.Jeremiah Mahony of Gortnaskehy used to make baskets for picking potatoes. he used to make them out of sallow twigs.
Jim Browne of Glencullen used to make iron gates. He is dead five years now.
Ann Fenney of Gortnaskehy and Ellen McGrath of Ballyheaffy had spinning wheels which used to weave skeins of wool into thread for making stockings.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
