    About forty years ago my grandmother used to make candles. She used to melt tallow grease and make it long and round. For a wick she used to have the centre of rushes or strips of corduroy. The tallow grease used to be got from the fat of a sheep. The candles used to burn brightly.
    Near my house there is a lime kiln. my grandfather used to burn lime there. He used to supply the townland with it
    On the road into Kilworth about six miles from from the Ballyheaffy school there is a woolen factory. it is known as Quinlans Mills. It is situated on the banks of the Araglen River. That factory is working for one hundred and fifty years. For the last hundred years Quinlans Mills used to dye clothes.
