- In olden times there were no slated houses, and all the people lived in tached houses, or some houses with iron roofing which were sometimes very badly made.
Most of the houses were roofed with scraws and old sticks covered over with thatch made of straw. Some of these houses were very comfortable, but all these have been knocked down and replaced by new ones.
Every old house in the district at that time had a bed in the kitchen called a hag. Instead of the the chimney being at the gable end, it was in the centre of the floor or sometimes at the side. The front of the chimney made of wet clay and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
