    In every county in Ireland potatoes grow. Potatoes are a hardy crop and they grow in every class of weather.
    Before potatoes are sowed the land is ploughed and harrowed. Then manure and slag are spread along the drills. Some people stick sciollans. They make a hole in the ground and stick a sciollan in it. Then they strike it with a spade and cover it. There is at least one eye in every sciollan. The potatoes have different names. One potato is called the Queen, another is called the Champion, another the Date. The Champion is the best for eating
