know when the severe weather is coming and they look for shelter. There is an old saying that if the cat is seen with his back to the fire it is the sign of snow. If he is looking into the fire it is the sign of rain. The fowl run for shelter, the hens run under bushes and the geese go into houses.
In the fine weather the farmer is out working and in the wet weather he cannot work.
