  1. When people start the churning they put a coal under the churn. They do that so that they will have a good return of butter. Some people put salt on the lid of the churn so that the fairies will not bring the butter. The cows are milked and the last of the milk is strained and put into a basin. It is skimmed next day and put into a large crock and it is churned
