    Old schools.
In olden times there was a school in our village. It was situated in the "Burrow' which Paddy Hannon has now. The name of the teacher was "Billy, the schoolmaster. That is what he was to be called. He had to walk for Ahascragh every morning. When that school was destroyed he had to teach in barns. The owner of the barn in which he would teach would supply a candle for him. He would stay about a week in each village. He taught occasionally in Michael Garveys fathers barn.
