    Fifty years ago children never got shoes before they were eight or nine years old and sometimes not until they were 12 years.
    Children now only go bare-footed in summer.
    In the past there were three shoemakers in this district namely:- Tom McHugh, Martin Moran, and -McTighe. These have all died. Shoemaking
