    The children of long ago hardly ever bought toys.

    The children of long ago hardly ever bought toys. They made them themselves from timber and other things. Those were roughly constructed as compared with the machine made toys of to-day.
    There were no big factories for making them long ago. Besides the people were very poor and the children hardly ever got pennies to spend on sweets and other things.
