    Once there was a man who was going to be hanged for some crime he had committed.As he was going to the dock guarded by the guards, he held a picture of his hand and would not give it up.The judge asked him who was in the picture.He said brothers and sisters I have none but the man's father is my father's son .

    Some Great men for jumping.
    The most noted men for jumping in Glandree inthe past were the Moloney's and Brigmonds.Denis Moloney was a great man for jumping and he was also a very active man in other ways.he could jump over two horses standing side by side.John Brigmond was a very great man also .He lived at first in Quin,after a while he came to live with his sister between Maugherabawn and Glandree.When he was an old man as he was coming home from a hunt one Sunday afternoon.A number of young fellows were jumping up at Kennedy's forge.He was passing near by they called him to try the jump.he drew near, made a few hops caught his shins with his hands cleared the jump,took the jump back, again without ever taking his hands from his shins.Then he went away,There was also a man in Knockjames named Martin Russel.he used to jump up-on a horse and stay standing on the horses back while he was going to the forge, which was about two miles away.The three are dead now,and their great deeds live after them.
