    Boots & shoes are repaired locally by Michael Gunane whose father is a shoemaker. The latters father was not a shoemaker.
    Seven shoemakers were at work in the village of Whitegate 60 or 70 years ago.
    At that time boot & shoe [?] were very scarce & the boots Etc. were v. dear.
    So the people had to get their shoes Etc. made by the local shoemaker.
    Clogs were made by a man named John Hill in [?] 60 or 70 years ago.
    They are not worn or made now.
    Foregoing got from Terence McGown, Ballinrooaun who heard it from his father - deceased.
