  2. not cured he had to be smothered between two ticks. It is said he got the cure in a dream he had. When he died he did not leave it to any of his sons or friends. However doctors have found out a remedy for it now.
    My father told me the foregoing.

    A man named John Leonard a merchant in Arva has the cure of the mumps. Many children are brought to him to get cured. He brings each child to a pigsty and puts a pair of winkers with reins attached, on his head. he drives him around the pigsty nine times holding the child's arm in one hand and the reins in the other. While doing so he says prayers. the child has to get this done for two weeks, then the mumps are supposed to be cured
