    rounding ground but is raised up many feet above it. The fort is surrounded by a mossy bank about two feet high. There is no opening to this fort except a long passage on the side of it. There are a lot of trees growing in this fort. Near the edge of the fort Mac Ardle's house is built and one night a woman dressed in wich was seen on the loft. It is said that if a person cuts a tree out of any fort the fairies will interfere with him.
    One day a man was cutting a tree in Mac Ardle's fort and he heard a voice from the tree and he ran home and the marks of the pick axe are still to be seen in the tree as it was never touched afterwards.
    Two men went to dig a fort near Anaughmullen one time but they were not on far with the work when
