  1. If turf is not brought in before the sunset the old people believe it must not be burned before the sunrise, and that it must be left beside the fire in case the "good people" may need it.
    When a mirror breaks in a house some one is sure to die before the year is out.
    Who ever goes journeying on New Year's Eve or N. Year's Day, it is said he will be journeying for the year.
    When the old people have cold and when they hear a bell in their ear they say some near friend of theirs is dead.
