  1. Locally people get married in the month of June. The days thought unlucky are Tuesdays and Fridays and the months though unlucky are May and July.
Match-making is a Huston in this district. There is money and some stock and goods given. The would be an-oaten cake broken on the brides head when going in on the door. Whiskey and Porter constituted the feast in Olden times.
The Bride had to ware something borrowed and something blue so that she would be happy. The men run for the bottle and whoever wins the race gets the bottle but the bride takes the first drink.
The straw boys come looking for drink and if they do not get some, they generally do alot of harm.
