    Phil Sheridan was born in Upper Beagh in the year 1830. When an infant his father and mother emigrated to America.
    When the War for Independence broke out he became a general in the American army. It was due to his courage and bravery that the Americans won many battles.
    Jim Smith who was born in Gola was, for a number of years the best Gaelic Footballer in Ireland. He captained the Cavan team for many years, and played on the
