- (continued from previous page)foretells rain while if it sets red in the eventide it is a sign of good weather. When the moon is encircled by a greyish coloured ring you may be prepared for rain. When the stars twinkle and glitter and seem to jump this is a sign of hard frost. If one or more stars seem to fall right down out of the heavens this foretells rain. Dark clouds are a sign of rain and a cloudless sky in Summer is the sign of good weather.
A sure sign of a bad day is a rainbow seen in the morning while one see at night foretells good weather. There is an old rhyme that says, "A rainbow at morn is a sheperd's warning; a rainbow at night is a sheperd's delight and it is not far wrong.
When the north wind in Winter blows, snow is at hand. When the east wind blows we are sure to have a spell of any biting cold weather. When the south or south west winds blow we may expect a(continues on next page)- Collector
