    waited on him till two oclock that night and he told him that he would not keep him if he would not (take) go to the Priest in the morning and take the pledge and bring him back the pledge card. The next Saturday after he got his week's wages he was drinking in one of the back streets in Cavan when he was coming up the street he met the Priest. "Ho ho my boy" said the Priest to him. I thought you took the pledge" "So I did sir but I gave it to the boss" was his reply.
