    For sleep we were inclined.
    That night we all lay down.
    But before the break of day
    In smoke and ruins lay
    Forty houses fine and gay,
    In Ballinagh fair town.

    The snow and torrernts flowing.
    The clements kept flowing as neptune poured down.
    But before the break of day,

    It would break your heart to see.
    Each worthy family.
    That lost their property,
    Going wondering up and down
