    parish of Laragh about two miles from Stradone.
    N.B. Slieve Glah Mountain is situated between the parishes of Lavey and Denn. Shantamon Mountain is in the parish of Castletara at a distance of about four miles from the town of Cavan.

    Note. The mothers in this district until about fifty years ago placed the tongs in the cradle along with the baby, when going out. This was supposed to prevent the fairies from bringing away the baby and leaving an elf in its place.
