    with an iron hasp.
During the Winter, the horses are kept in a stable. When they are in they are foddered with hay.The hay is kept in the manger. The horses do all the work of the farm. When they require shoes, they are brought to the forge. The hair is clipped every year:the tails are cut.
The cow is the most useful animal on the farm.Every cow has a name. The Scarnagh Heifer was calved in Scarnagh.Luly?Horns has turned-in horns. The Gorey Cow was bought in Gorey. The Twin Cow is so called because she had twin calves.
The cowshed is a long shed.It consists of a five-part floor, the foddering hall,a place for the hay,the stand, the channel and the walk-behind.There is a long beam going across the house:there is a number of bales under it.There are two bales for each cow.The cow's head goes in between the bales. There is a bit of iron used to keep the bales together.
The horse does the ploughing and harrowing.
