    About a mile or two from here there is a townland called Ballyshonogue.

    About a mile or two from here there is a townsland called Ballyshonogue. At the top of this hill it is said that 'Black Tom' (who was Deputy to Charles I) and who had a castle nearby, trained his horses there. The track is still to be seen in the shape of a ring. This is called 'Rath na gcapallail).
