  1. The first thing we do before cutting the corn is to cut a track around the edge with a scythe so that the binder will not knock down any of the corn.
    The binder is drawn by two or three horses. As the binder cuts the corn it ties in sheaves. As it throws out the sheaves men or women put them in ?stooks in the field untill they are properly tried. Then they are loaded on a card and brought to haggard where they are built into a rick.
