A third type of churn is used by people who have not much milk to churn. This is sort of combination of dash and end over end churn.
It is a box-shaped churn with blades inside which are turned by a crank.

There are many customs and superstitions connected with churning. It is said that if you reverse the way you turn the handle of the churn you will turn the butter back to cream again. It is said that if the butter will not form there is a fairy in the churn.
