    St Matt, St Mark, St James, St John,
    God bless this bed, that I lie on,
    Christ in, Christ out, Christ all about
    As I look up, as I look down,
    As I look up, to heavens crown,
    I saw twelve candles lighting,
    Twelve bells ringing,
    Twelve priests singing,
    Shut the gates of hell,
    Open the gates of heaven,
    And let the poor souls in ,
    Now and for evermore,
    Amen,
    I know surely I must die
    I know not how, when, or where,
    But if I die in mortal sin
    I'm lost forever,
    O Jesus have mercy on me
    This prayer is to be said three times in the morning, and three times at night.

    On Good Friday before noon
    The Jews came with their sharp spears
    And pierced our Saviour through the heart,
    He bled from heart to hand,
    His blessed mother, standing by
