  1. There are two local Saints connected with this district St Kevin and St Laurence O'Toole.
    It is believed that as St Kevin walked along a troop of animals followed him
    It is said that the king of Farlain sent Kevin his son for fostering. But the Saint had no food for the child. He prayed to God to tame a dove and from that on the dove dove dropped it's milk on a hallow stone and the child drank it.
    After some time St Kevin built a monastery and had many others from different places.
    Kevins followers became numerous that he had build another monastery for their accomation further down the valley beside the lower lake
    In 830, the holy place of the Seven Churches was attacked by fierce Vikings who sailed upon the river at Arklow and burst with sword and fire upon the glen.
