    went reluctantly.
When he was going in to where this woman lived, she was in the yard, and before he ever spoke she said "It was time for you to come". He said, "How do you know what I'm coming about?" She answered, and said it was about his cows "slipping" calf. She said, "You'll have another, and when it occurs, get your men to get a faggot of furze, place them around the dead calf, and burn it. While in the act of doing it, a red-haired woman will pass. She'll ask you a question, but don't answer her".
A week afterwards, he had to burn this calf. While doing so, a red-ahired woman passed, and she was a neighbour. She aske him how she could get out to Ballylion, a neighbouring townland, which she knew too well. In his temper, he gave an offensive answer to her. She made answer and said he was in a bad temper for losing the calf.
For the remainder of the season all was well with his cows.
