    colour. The Old Red Cow is so called because she is the oldest cow of them all.
    A setting of eggs is composed of thirteen eggs, and when the woman of the house is putting them in the nest she puts a bit of iron in with them. If there is thunder while the eggs are being hatched, the eggs will be all bad, but when the iron is with them it protects them from being harmed. If any great noise occurs near where the hen is hatching the eggs will be nearly all bad.
